After a historic strike by German railway workers, Deutsche Bahn gives in on the 35-hour week. The agreement reached after the movement only concerns railway workers from the minority GDL union.

After six periods of massively followed strike action, which have paralyzed rail traffic since the fall of 2023, the GDL railway workers' union has seen its main demand for a reduction in working hours to 35 hours met, in principle, without salary reduction. “ We regret that our strikes have affected travelers, ” commented the president of the drivers' union, Claus Weselsky, while placing sole responsibility on the employer.
