Bavarian State Library went it alone, there is a different library system than at Bavarian universities - which causes problems. Users found out about this a few weeks ago via a message that was published by the three libraries with the same wording.

The background to this problem, which will last at least until the end of June, is the fact that the previous library system has become obsolete after more than 20 years and must be replaced by a new one. The switch to the new library system – called ALMA – should be completed in the Bavarian State library in Munich and its ten regional branches by June 27th. From the first quarter of 2025, the university and OTH will switch to their new system called FOLIO. So a functioning interface is needed here too. The problem not only affects Regensburg, but all of Bavaria. This is particularly noticeable at the Stabi locations with universities and colleges, where cooperation is particularly close: in Regensberg, Bamberg and Passau. The Bavarian Library Association - which organizes around 200 academic libraries in Bavaria - has been discussing the old system since 2015 that a replacement is needed.
