Around 400 people gathered at a solidarity rally on Julius-Mosen-Platz in the city center not far from the synagogue. An incendiary device was thrown at a synagogue door on Friday afternoon.

Police are looking for witnesses to the attack. Anti-Semitism commissioner Gerhard Wegner visited the Jewish community after the crime and called for solidarity. The community is shocked that there are also people in Oldenburg who live out their hatred in this form of violence and crime, the deputy community chairman Stahl said.
