Five men in their twenties were indicted and imprisoned on Thursday for the kidnapping followed by mutilation or permanent disability. The body of the victim, violently beaten in the face, was found by a walker in the departmental forest of Migelane in the commune of Martillac in Gironde.

Eight people were arrested Monday morning in Mérignac, near Bordeaux, seven of them and another near Mont-de-Marsan (Landes) The facts appear “to be part of a settling of scores, against a backdrop of trafficking in narcotics” said the public prosecutor Olivier Naboulet during a press conference. “The five accused admitted to being at the scene of the events,” added Mr. Naboulets. The victim and four of the defendants are known to the courts. The case is being investigated by the Agen branch of the Bordeux research section, helped by the Tonneins research brigade, said the magistrate of Agen.
