Four people are suspected of having set up a fraudulent system allowing candidates to obtain their code exam without having to take the tests. In total, 1,165 fraudulent candidates could have benefited from this very lucrative scam.

The profits from this “massive fraud” are estimated at 350,000 euros according to a source close to the matter. Four of the protagonists were finally presented to a liberty judge, back to the criminal court until Friday April 12. Two of them were placed in pre-trial detention, the other two have been subject to strict judicial control as confirmed by the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor's office. Fraudulent candidates, will also be subject to legal proceedings and risk outright withdrawal of their ill-gotten driving license, says the prosecutor’s office in a press release in Aix. The four defendants are suspected by the courts of having organized for many months a vast network of traffic fraud, the press release adds. The investigation was carried out by the departmental intelligence and judicial investigation brigade of the Bouches-du-Rhône gendarmerie group.
