Alert in Guatemala due to a fire caused in a landfill. The authorities suspend classes and describe the air quality in the surroundings of the capital as “bad” and harmful to health.

A fire “caused” in the landfill of the Authority for the Sustainable Management of the Lake Amatitlán Basin (AMSA) generated immense columns of smoke that generated visibility problems on nearby roads. “Whoever caused it cannot imagine the magnitude and impact it causes, mainly in the environmental aspect, but also in the social and financial aspect,” said the director of AMSA.
