Alexei Navalny's body has been handed over to his mother, according to his spokesman. The announcement was made by Ivan Zhdanov, director of Navalny’s anti-corruption agency.
He thanked those who demanded that Russian authorities return his body after his death. Navalny was imprisoned in a "special regime" penal colony where he was serving his 19-year sentence on charges "extremism" for his opposition to the Russian government. He died on February 16 after being imprisoned in the colony.
