Only around 37 percent of those starting school in Bavaria are vaccinated against TBE. Ticks transmit TBE and Lyme disease, which causes inflammation of the meninges, brain or spinal cord. In 2023 there will be 233 cases of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), 33 fewer than in 2022.
