Amanda de la Garza is the new deputy artistic director of the Reina Sofía in Madrid. She has spent the last 12 years at the University Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City.

She says that the enormous Guernica mural on display at the MUAC was a premonition of her departure to the museum that houses the work. “Museums must take risks and have the vocation to transform”, says De la Garzas, who will start her new role in April.
