Estela de Carlotto will receive an Honorary Degree from the Roma Tre University on 17 April 2024. The president of the Association of the "Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo" (the grandmothers of Piazza di Maggio) has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The following day, 18 April 2024, she will be received in a special audience by Pope Francis. At 93 years old the president of Abuelas has already received prestigious national and international awards, among which the Order of Merit in the rank of Commander of the RepubblicaItaliana and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Award. The program for 17 April in Roma Tre includes - after greetings from the Rector of Roma Tre, Massimiliano Fiorucci - a lectio magistralis by Carlotto. Two micro-monologues from the Teatro por la Identidad will also be read, to reiterate the importance of rediscovering one's family origins to establish a solid human and personal identity.
