Iran launched dozens of “suicide” drones on Israeli territory. The attack was carried out with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) called the Shahed-136.

The UAVs played a prominent role in the war between Russia and Ukraine. They can be launched in “swarm” and are designed to destroy fixed targets. The drones and missiles that Iran launched at Israel will hit the Golan Heights and an Israeli Air Force base in the Negev desert - located in southern Israel - according to The New York Times. However, the U.S. believes that between 400 and 500 drones and missile will be launched from Iraq, Syria and southern Lebanon, but that the majority will be launch from Iran. The value of the UAV is around $20,000, well below advanced Iranian drones, equipped with missiles and piloted remotely, such as theshahed-129, which costs $7.5 million per unit. It has a range of 2,000 kilometers, the capacity to carry 50-kilogram explosive warheads.
