Avalanche in South Tyrol: German tourer killed. One woman is dead, two men are in mortal danger.
It had snowed heavily in the Italian Alps in the past few days. The fresh snow - up to half a meter - also increased the risk of avalanches. The accident probably occurred in the early afternoon near the Wumblsalm area. The dead woman and the two men who were rescued are between the ages of 20 and 30. The two critically injured people were flown to a hospital by helicopter. Around 30 helpers were involved in the rescue work.
