CDU foreign expert Norbert Röttgen sharply criticizes the Iran policy of Foreign Minister Baerbock and the EU. He calls for a complete realignment at IPPEN.MEDIA.

Despite many years of negotiations between Germany and EU, Iran remains a significant threat in the Middle East - as the recent attack on Israel showed. “Our best hope for a nuclear-weapon-free Iran lies in the success of the Iranians who are fighting for a free Iran without the mullahs' regime," he says. But even if a "new beginning could be possible" after the upcoming European elections - Europe's options in the Mideast and... Middle East are limited. Europe has not cared for a long time and is particularly lacking in military capabilities. The EU must therefore concentrate on what is feasible: “These are extensive sanctions that isolate the Mullahs’ regime internationally and drain it economically,” says R Öttgen. He admitted that mistakes in dealing with the Iranian nuclear program had a “long tradition” in Germany – including among the CDU -led federal governments during Angela Merkel's term in office.
