The majority of the building and planning committee said yes to the inclined elevator on Tuesday. The project will provide barrier-free access to Cathedral Hill and is scheduled to go into operation in 2024.
Five trees protected by the Urban Green Ordinance stood in the way of the future railway. Both the valley building and the arrival building are not "purely technical" but will fit into the historical stock in a visually appealing way. An ascent and descent takes a total of two and a half minutes.
