EELV leader Sandrine Rousseau has resigned from the party. She was accused of behaving badly towards a former partner.

Rousseau says there was nothing ‘criminally reprehensible’ about her actions. She is the first member of EELV to resign since the party was formed in 2000. The party has been in power since the 1980s, but has now lost its majority in the French National Assembly. The next election will be held in May 2015, with the aim of returning the party to power.
