Belgium's federal prosecutor has launched an investigation into the Russian propaganda networks busted by the Belgian and Czech intelligence services. This was announced by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo at a press conference.

In recent days, the prime minister himself had denounced Russian interference which allegedly involved some MEPs. "According to our secret services, Moscow's objectives are very clear" namely to contribute to the election of "the greatest number of pro-Russian candidates to the European Parliament and to strengthen a certain pro-Russian narrative in this institution", said De Croe. The investigation is based on a declassified report that our services made public the day before yesterday," he said. The Belgian secret services have confirmed the existence of real Russian interference networks with activities in several European countries and also here in Belgium, said DeCroo. The probe is ongoing and no arrests have yet been made, he said, but the investigation is expected to be completed in the next few days.
