A 24-year-old Belgian took advantage of a technical problem with his bank BNP Paribas Fortis to withdraw money 46 times. The young man wanted to help a friend finance a wedding, according to his lawyer.
The public prosecutor is asking for reimbursement of the stolen sum, and a sentence of 18 months in prison. The decision will be made on March 11, reports the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. He faces 18 years in prison if found guilty.
