Ben Gvir is trying (again) to appoint one of his close associates as director general of the Ministry of National Security. The minister turned to the Civil Service Commission with a request to appoint Raphael Engel, deputy head of the Benjamin Staff Council.
Engel previously held management positions in the right-wing associations Regavim and Ataret Cohenim, but not in large governmental or public management or security positions. His appointment is subject to the approval of the Senior Committee - which had previously warned Laban Gabir that a candidate should be appointed to the position.
