The United States will not support any counterattack by Israel against Iran. American President Joe Biden said this to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as reported by Axios.

Biden told Netanyahu that he should consider the night a "victory" given that, from initial assessments, Iran's attack against the Jewish state was not successful. This was stated by a US administration official, quoted by the American media. The Israeli prime minister, Axios highlights, would have understood the American president's position. The U.S. will not participate in any offensive operation against Tehran and will notsupport such an operation, an American official said. The US will also not support an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, the official added. The White House has not commented on the Axios report, which was first reported by CNN's John Defterios and was later confirmed by the Israeli news agency, the Jerusalem Post. The Washington Post, which first reported the story, said that the White House would not comment on the report.
