Birds, bees and even plants might behave strangely during the eclipse. Studies of animal behavior during a solar eclipse are underway.

The NASA-backed Soundscapes project will collect data from hundreds of people during the solar eclipse. Some biologists who are near the path of totality are designing a study to see how the eclipse affects their favorite organism, be it honey bees or chimpanzees. Others are trying to get the public to make observations along the entire trail, which scientists can then use to identify general patterns.
