Two Algerians were stabbed with a switchblade knife on Wednesday evening in Bordeaux. The attacker, dressed in a djellaba and a scarf with which he had covered his face during his flight, has not yet been identified.

“I think he is a fanatic, practicing Muslim, who has seen impure people. We will move forward to the day when we call a spade aSpade,” says a police source. The attack took place on a day marked for Muslims by Eid, the religious festival which ends Ramadan. One of the victims is said to have died, while the days of the second, seriously injured, are no longer in danger, police say.. A controversy on the subject has been growing in the local political class since the last week. The municipal police have non-lethal and dissuasive weapons which allow them to neutralize attackers, maintained Pierre Hurmic, the mayor of Bordeux, the day after the events. The national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office remains under observation on this investigation.
