British justice rejected the Duke of Sussex's appeal on Monday and ordered him to pay almost all legal costs in this case. Harry, who rarely visits the United Kingdom, challenged the authorities' decision to now grant him protection on a case-by-case basis.

Harry and his wife Meghan lost their systematic protection, at the expense of the British taxpayer, after deciding to withdraw from the royal family in 2020 and settle in the United States. The magistrate in charge of the case reiterated that the authorities were “justified” in no longer granting him systematic protection. The February ruling represented the second legal defeat for Prince Harry over responsibility for his security when he visits the U.K. The prince's last known visit to the United UK dates back to February 6: he then briefly returned to London to see his father Charles, whose cancer had just been announced. The court rejected the prince's appeal in this court, with a spokesperson explaining that it was "largely a recapitulation of the arguments put forward by the plaintiff at trial"
