Brussels approves billions in aid for green steel. Germany is allowed to provide 1.3 billion euros for the switch to climate-neutrally produced steel at the ArcelorMittal sites in Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt.

The EU Commission approved the payment on Friday. The measure will support the achievement of the goals of the EU hydrogen strategy and the European “Green Deal’. It will also help end Russia's dependence on fossil fuels and rapidly advance the ecological transition.
