The camellia has excellent pot life, provided you choose your container carefully. Preferably opt for a terracotta pot, draining and breathable, rather than a plastic model, airtight and heat-intensive.

Fill your pot with a mixture of garden soil and heather soil to obtain a rich and light substrate in which your plant can root easily. Repot it every 3 years or enrich the substrate in autumn with a handful of special he Heather soil plant fertilizer. The water needs of your Camellia vary according to the seasons:  Watering in summer encourages evaporation and therefore drying out of the root ball. Watering in winter is rather a period of dormancy during which its water needs are less. Reduce watering to a minimum and, to avoid the risk of frost, do not water in extreme cold. If you have a winter garden, make sure to maintain a constant level of humidity to the minimum as it encourages deep frost. In the event of a very harsh winter, despite all these precautions, it happens that certain branches freeze. Simply cut them back at the beginning of the spring.
