Carl Weathers, who was a football player in the NFL and became a famous actor by playing Apollo Creed in the Rocky series films and more recently for his role in the successful Star Wars series The Mandalorian, died this Thursday. He was 76 years old while he was sleeping, according to his family.

"He was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life" and "left an indelible mark," his family said in a statement. "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers," the statement read.
