Hamburger SV's second division game against Hannover 96 was about to be canceled due to protests against investors joining the DFL. Some supporters from HSV's north curve managed to lock heavy bicycle locks on the posts of a goal.

The locks could only be removed using a power cutter. Objects also flew onto the field. Referee Sören Storks announced via the stadium announcer that he would cancel the game if further actions followed. After neither 96 captain Ron Robert Zieler, coach Stefan Leitl and the entire 96 team achieved anything with the fans, referee Storks asked the players into the dressing rooms.
