Sergio "Chiquito" Romero has not yet renewed his contract with Boca. The world's runner-up has been offered a new deal by the club.

The 37-year-old has been injured several times in the last year. Boca is looking for a replacement for Romero, who has been linked with Newell's Old Boys and Inter Miami. The goalkeeper has a great relationship with his former team-mate Leo Martino. The former Racing and Manchester United team, among other teams, are interested in signing Romero. The club is looking to replace him with a player from the Argentinian youth set-up, such as Leandro Brey or Javier García. The goalkeeping coach Gerardo Callao is also a target for Boca's new manager Juan Román Riquelme, who is also the former goalkeeper of Newell’s Old Boys. The Argentine national team is also looking to sign a goalkeeper, with the likes of Nahuel Guzmán and Gerardo Martino among the potential candidates.
