Up to 70% of the world's current wine-producing regions would risk becoming unsuitable for viticulture. In Italy, in particular, around 90% risk disappearing due to drought and frequent heat waves linked to climate change.

This is indicated by the study published in the journal Nature Reviews Earth & Environment by the French research group led by Cornelis van Leeuwen. Currently the main wine regions are located in mid-latitudes, such as in Italy, northern Spain, southern France and California.
