Authorities of the port of Baltimore are working to create a temporary navigation corridor through the rubble of the collapsed bridge. The corridor will, however, initially not be wide enough to allow the passage of large vessels.

It will be reserved for vessels “involved in operations” as well as emergency vessels. A second navigation corridor is being opened, but it was impossible on Monday to have details as to whether it would be open to navigation, a coast guard spokesperson said. Earlier this week, a container ship rammed into the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse and killing six people.
