Singapore port authorities said the container ship had passed two inspections in 2023. Vessel's classification certificates relating to "the structural integrity of the vessel" were valid at the time of the incident.
The ship was carrying 4,679 containers out of a capacity of 10,000, according to its Hong Kong owner Grace Ocean. Emergency services suspended searches around the Baltimore Bridge on Tuesday evening, with US authorities believing that the six missing people were now presumed dead. The cargo ship left the port of Baltimore on Tuesday at 1 a.m. for a 27-day crossing to Colombo.
