The largest operational crane on the East Coast of the United States is scheduled to begin its work this Saturday morning. It will remove one by one the pieces of the Francis Scott Key Bridge which collapsed Tuesday as a container ship smashed through one of its batteries.

The largest piece of steel lying on the bow of the container ship weighs at least four times the handling capacity of the crane, more than 4,000 tons. The Army Corps of Engineers will have to determine precisely where, and how, to cut the steel to ensure the part is liftable.
