The overall operating grant (DGF), the main financial assistance from the State to communities, will increase or remain stable for 82% of municipalities in 2024. Amounting more than 27 billion euros, the DGF has once again been increased by 320 million euros.
The amount of DGF received each year by municipalities, intercommunities and departments is based on criteria of population, wealth, resources and expenses. For the municipalities affected by a drop in their DGF in 2024, nearly 73% of them will be in a “limited” manner.
