One in four industrial companies in Saarland are planning massive cost-cutting measures. Companies are struggling with increasing risks and a declining willingness to invest.

The criticism is primarily directed at the economic policy framework and the high level of bureaucracy. The willingness to hire new staff is dwindling, but that is not the most worrying measure. A survey by the Südwestmetall association last year showed that many companies in Baden-Württemberg are also planning with fewer staff and lower investments.
