Composting human bodies will be studied in France. Humusation, as its name indicates, aims to transform the bodies of the deceased into humus to form a rich compost.

The ecological goal pursued is twofold: a reduction in pollution during funerals, and possibly a transformation of human remains into fertile material for the planet. A working group will be formed within three months to study whether French law, which currently only allows burial and cremation of remains, should evolve to allow other methods.
