Gay and bisexual men are disproportionately affected : They represent only 2 percent of American adults and 70 percent of new HIV cases. HIV rates have decreased in recent years thanks in part to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) But the decline has lagged behind that of many other wealthy Western nations and even some hard-hit African countries.
