Congress reaches an agreement to avoid a government shutdown this weekend. Republican and Democratic leaders agreed to keep government agencies funded until the March 8 and 22 deadlines, when measures will be voted on to provide the required long-term funding.

The House of Representatives returns to session Wednesday after a two-week recess. The Senate is expected to vote on a spending bill as soon as Thursday. The deadline for the Senate to pass a bill before midnight Friday is midnight on Friday, or the government will shut down.
