Convicted Murderer Alex Murdaugh Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison for Financial Crimes After Failing Polygraph. The former South Carolina lawyer, already serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife and young son, is now being punished for stealing millions of dollars from his clients and his own law firm.

Federal prosecutors had said last week that Murdaugh, 55, failed a polygraph test he agreed to take as part of a plea deal. In addition, they identified 11 new victims of financial crimes and another 1.3 million dollars in money stolen by the former lawyer.
