The dandelion is a very common plant everywhere in France except in the South where it is rarer. The genus Taraxacum actually has 1200 species and subspecies in Europe, divided into sections.

The name “dandelion” was identified as early as the 15th century and with it, its diuretic properties. It literally comes from “wetting the bed” which suggested nocturnal incontinence. Dandelion can, however, be grown in the vegetable garden to be consumed or used in the composition of remedies.
