From 1988 to 2002, within the Socialist Party, he was a member of the leadership of the Socialist Left. He had been seen by the general public alongside the France rebellious leader when he tried in 2019 to oppose a search within the headquarters of his party with words that have become cult ("The Republic, it's me").
