Charlie Biton, a former member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), died on February 24 at the age of 76. He was the leader of the group's "Black Panthers" movement, which aimed to fight against discrimination against Eastern Jews in Israel.

The group was founded in 1971, and has since become one of the most successful left-wing groups in the history of Israel. It was founded by a group of former members of the PLO, led by former Israeli Prime Minister Yisrael Ben-Gurion.
