Fritz Wepper died in his sleep at the age of 82, as confirmed by his family on the RTBF website. Between 1974 and 1998, he played Inspector Derrick's deputy.

In 2021, Fritz Wepper reveals that he has skin cancer, an illness he overcame the following year after extensive treatments.
