Details never seen in the 19 spiral galaxies portrayed by Webb - Space and Astronomy. Galaxies are part of the universe closest to us and are rich in previously unseen details of stars, gas and dust.
The images were published by the international collaboration Physics at High Angular resolution in Nearby GalaxieS (Phangs) The objective of the project is to study the star formation process, how this is influenced by the surrounding environment and vice versa, how star formation in turn influences it through so-called feedback processes.
