The supermarket is registered in Florida under the name Las America TTC Corporation, but is owned by a company in Cuba. The store is open to the public from 9am to 10pm. The price of everything is paid in euros or dollars, with the exception of the toiletries, which are paid for in Cuban pesos or dollars. It has been open since mid- October and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year. It's the first supermarket of its kind to open in Cuba since the fall of the Castro regime in the 1990s, and the first in the country since the Cuban revolution.
