But it is probably some vulgar shenanigan of a mayor or a general councilor, a cantonal adventure. Sigh. The windows lighten, the day rises over Chartres, in the fog and the scent of coffee which every morning, around 8 o'clock, spreads across the prefecture, with the clicking of a typewriter, the voice of a collaborator coming to the report. The ideal place to go green. The perfect place to start a new life in a new town. The best place to begin a new career in the new world. The most beautiful place in the world to start, the most beautiful town in the whole of Europe, the best place for a new start. The only place to be.
