The father of the two children found dead Thursday evening in a field in Essonne was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for murder, the Evry prosecutor's office said on Sunday. The autopsy established that the children's death was the result of the blows with the kitchen knife found at the scene of the events, the prosecution said in a press release.

The mother had filed a complaint against her partner Thursday afternoon for domestic violence committed between December 2023 and early February 2024, according to the prosecution. The investigations are now continuing under the authority of the investigating magistrate to determine precisely the circumstances of the commission of these criminal acts, added this same source. The driver then told a caregiver that he wanted to commit suicide by crashing his car into a tree after killing his two children and abandoning their bodies.
