Cocaine, amphetamines and alcohol are involved in many acts of violence committed in France every year. The most consumed product, alcohol, is also the one that causes the most violent acts.

More than a third of the perpetrators were regular drinkers or under its influence at the time of the facts. American studies on a younger audience have shown that drug users commit more crimes. And these acts appeared more and more serious as the use of narcotics intensified. Another study, from 2013, found that substance dependence tripled the risk of intimate assault.
