Patricios Park has been closed since the storm of December 17, 2023 when more than 600 trees fell in the City. The City confirmed that the situation will continue for a while longer because it was found that more than 40 specimens are affected by a fungus that makes them unsafe.
The fungus is known as “shelf” fungus; it attacks the wood and causes irreversible damage to the specimens. When the fungus is visible, the wood is generally already weakened. That is why it was decided to replace them and thus protect the neighbors.
