Ecuador: they claim that the murder of Fernando Villavicencio was planned from prison. The Prosecutor's Office of that country targeted a faction of the criminal gang Los Lobos.
The presidential candidate was shot dead on August 9, 2023 as he left an electoral meeting in Quito. A judge must decide on Wednesday whether to accept the prosecutor's request and call the five Ecuadorians and one Colombian linked to this case to trial. The hearing was suspended after nearly eight hours to continue on Wednesday with the defense arguments.
