Elon Musk will travel to India to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The billionaire announced it on platform X in a post in which he wrote "can't wait".

The meeting, which according to some Indian media would be set for April 22, should lead to the announcement of substantial investments by Tesla in the country. Modi and Musk already met in New York last year to talk about Musk's future investments in theCountry. Last March, Delhi cut import taxes by 15 percent on electric vehicles from foreign manufacturers who will commit to investing 500 million dollars in India and starting local production within the next three years. The tax reduction, judged by commentators to be a tailor-made gift for Tesla, will be applied for the next five years to every foreign electric car priced above $35,000. In 2021, Musk said high import taxes had prevented him from launching cars in India. According to what the Financial Times wrote last week, a Tesla team is already in India to identify possible areas for the establishment of a plant for the production of electric cars worth around 3 billion dollars.
