Employees on sick leave are entitled to paid leave, rules the Council of State. A stoppage for health reasons still gives the right to acquire leave, up to four weeks per year.

The retroactivity of this measure, which could have gone back to 2009, will however be limited to the last three years. Employers' organizations had strongly protested against the acquisition of paid leave during absences due to illness, and were alarmed by the amount of sums that companies could have had to pay retroactively.
